Helping Family Members & Friends With Cancer

Ways You Can Help a Family Member or Friend with Cancer:
- Introduce them to Gilda's Club and offer to drive them over for a tour
- Organize a calendar with other friends to prepare and deliver meals to the family
- Offer to help clean up even if it is just for one hour
- Offer to help with sewing
- Offer to help weed their garden and care for their house plants
- Help with the laundry and ironing
- Offer your time to help write letters or go to the post office
- Volunteer for long or short trips to the market
- Help pick-up other medical needs or get prescriptions filled
- Pick up favorite foods or a surprise treat
- Offer to drive them to their doctor’s appointment or therapies
- Take your friend to breakfast, lunch or dinner at a favorite spot
- Pick-up or return books, CD’s or movies
- Create a “sunshine basket” with wrapped small gifts, one to be opened each day
- Sit and reminisce together
- Offer to drive them to Gilda's Club activities or support groups
- Attend a Gilda's Club Volunteer Orientation yourself, & become involved with the social & emotional support program we have to offer you, as well as your loved one
