Thank you for your interest in our Volunteer Program at Gilda's Club Desert Cities.  Everyone at Gilda's Club wears many different hats, and as part of our volunteer network you will have the opportunity to become involved in various aspects of Gilda's Club.

Please contact the Clubhouse to request a Volunteer Application.

After receiving your completed application, we will contact you to discuss your interests and schedule a time for your Volunteer Training.  We look forward to hearing from you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Clinical Volunteers- are licensed social workers, mental health counselors, oncology nurses or marriage and family therapists who volunteer their time facilitating networking groups and/or conducting Customized Membership Plans, the hour long one-to-one interview in which members create a plan for their membership.

New Member Meeting Volunteers - are cancer survivors or individuals who have had experience with a family member or friend having cancer.  They attend the New Member Meetings and share "their story" as new members come and learn about Gilda's Club Desert Cities.

Workshop Volunteers - are volunteers who have an area of expertise that might be shared with Gilda's
Club members in a workshop, lecture, class or activity.  For example, yoga, meditation, Tai Chi, journal writing, self-hypnosis for stress, nutrition, creativity & humor, insurance issues, how to talk to your doctor and so on.  All of our workshops are "self skill" oriented so that members learn "the tools" to help themselves.  No soliciting of any kind is allowed.

Noogieland Volunteers - will work with the members of our club who are children, either those with cancer or those who have family members or friends with cancer.
(A background check & fingerprinting is required for volunteers working with children in Noogieland).

Clubhouse Event Volunteers - are volunteers who want to help with more of the administrative workings of the program or are interested in helping out in general Clubhouse events.  These volunteers do everything from answering the phone, to sending out mailings, to setting up and cleaning up at Pot Luck suppers.  Many of these volunteers may also be interested in participating in our fundraising events that occur outside of the Clubhouse.

Outreach Volunteers - are volunteers who can participate in community outreach activities
such as distributing Gilda's Club materials to other groups, and/or speaking to groups on behalf of Gilda's Club.

Bilingual Program Activity Volunteers - are volunteers who can participate in clubhouse activities, providing translation for our Spanish speaking members.
